述曰：然舊論本，句句別明，分為二段。實如今者合一處，明義相違故。但申正理，奪彼憶持，如前所說。似境之識，後生憶持，非緣離心外境識，後有憶持也。

Commentary: However, in the old translation of the treatise, the lines were explained separately and divided into two sections. In truth, as it is now, combining them into one place clarifies that the meanings are contradictory. It merely presents the correct principle to take away their [concept of] memory, as stated before: from the consciousness resembling an object, memory later arises; it is not that memory subsequently exists from a consciousness that apprehends an object apart from the mind.
