述曰：釋初句頌，奪彼曾受離心之外現境之識。謂如前說識從自種生，似境相轉等，及初論首說識生時，似外境現，雖無外境，眼等五識似外境現，已廣如前。

Commentary: This explains the first line of the verse, taking away their consciousness that previously experienced an object present apart from the mind. That is, as stated previously, consciousness arises from its own seed and evolves resembling the aspect of an object, etc.; and at the beginning of the treatise it was said that when consciousness arises, it appears resembling an external object: although there is no external object, the five consciousnesses—eye and the rest—appear resembling an external object, as extensively explained before.
