述曰：此結前也，謂此佛說意罰大故。汝應當知但由仙忿，三國眾生皆被殺死，今變成林，理善成立意罰為重，非由神鬼敬重仙人，知嫌為殺。又解：亦即返顯自識轉變增上緣力，他有情死，唯識義成。非是要由緣識外境，親能殺彼，彼方說死。

The Commentary states: This concludes the preceding, meaning that because the Buddha said mental chastisement is great, you should know that solely due to the ṛṣis' anger were the sentient beings of the three realms killed, so that [the realms] now have turned into forests; the principle is well established that mental chastisement is the heaviest, and it was not that spirits and deities, respecting the ṛṣis and knowing their resentment, killed them. Another explanation: this also indirectly demonstrates that through the adhipati-pratyaya of the transformation of one's own consciousness, other sentient beings died, and thus the doctrine of vijñapti-mātra is established. It is not that one must take an object external to consciousness as object and directly be able to kill them, before they can be said to die.
