又大乘是能詮教體，門論是用。此教體上有妙旨悟入之義門，決擇性相，教誡學徒，斷惡生善之功用，故名論。將體就用，攝用歸體，云大乘即門論，持業釋也。（作十釋竟）。

Furthermore, the Mahāyāna is the essence of the expressive teaching, while the gateway-treatise is the function. Upon this essence of the teaching, there is the meaning-gateway of awakening and entering into the subtle principle, which has the function of resolving essence and characteristics, instructing disciples, severing evil, and producing good; hence it is named a treatise. Subordinating the essence to the function and subsuming the function into the essence, saying "the Mahāyāna that is the gateway-treatise," is a karmadhāraya compound. (This concludes the making of the ten explanations).
