The Commentary states: This specifically points out the property. For instance, in establishing a thesis, where the collection of the stated impermanent property is called the thesis, impermanence is also present upon pots and the like; therefore, the collection of pots and the like is called the homologous class. Here, one takes only the collection of properties established by the reason as the homologous class. Therefore the Yogācārabhūmi states: 'The homologous class means that, whatever property it may be, looking toward remaining properties, their characteristics are mutually somewhat similar. There are five kinds of similarity: 1. appearance, 2. intrinsic entity, 3. activity, 4. doctrinal category, and 5. cause and effect.' Here, it speaks of similarity in doctrinal category.
