述曰：此顯虛功。對敵諍宗，本由理返，立宗順敵，虛棄已功，故亦過攝。
The commentary says: This shows futile effort. Debating a thesis against an opponent originally stems from contrary principles; if the stated thesis accords with the opponent, one's own effort is vainly discarded, and so it is also subsumed under faults.
