言彼此相者,就心境門,非是俗中,以境異心故非此故非相;以心異境,故名非彼相也。雖是一體,心義能知、法為所知,故言非非此相、非非彼相。第五句雙遣,同前也。以俗中一切法,不得當故。第六句中,總說妄心,非所應也。言「乃至」者,經本六句,略無中三,超至第六,故言乃至也。總說一切眾生妄心分別,皆不相應,必無像故。
Regarding "the characteristic of this and that": with respect to the gate of mind and object, it is not as in conventional [truth], where the object differs from the mind, hence it is not this, hence not the characteristic [of this]; and the mind differs from the object, hence it is called "not the characteristic of that". Although they are of one substance, the meaning of mind is the grasper (knower) and phenomena are the grasped (known); hence it is said "not the characteristic of non-this" and "not the characteristic of non-that". The fifth phrase negates both, the same as before. Because among all phenomena in conventional [truth], none can correspond. In the sixth phrase, it generally speaks of the deluded mind, with which it is not associated. Regarding "up to": the sūtra text has six phrases; abridging and omitting the middle three, it leaps to the sixth, hence it says "up to". It generally states that the deluded conceptualizations of all sentient beings are entirely non-associated, because there is certainly no such image.
