自下第三明六識心。「復次意識」者，是六識也。「即此相續識，依凡夫取著轉深計我我所」者，謂根本取性無明。「種種妄執隨事攀緣」者，計名字相也。此之明根本也。「又復說」以下，明末中「依見愛煩惱增長」者，見是五見，愛是五鈍。

Below this is the third section, clarifying the mind of the sixth consciousness. "Furthermore, the mental consciousness" is the sixth consciousness. "This very continuing consciousness, relying on ordinary persons' grasping and attachment which becomes increasingly deep, reckons self and what belongs to self": this refers to the fundamental ignorance of grasping nature. "Various deluded attachments grasping in accordance with phenomenal states": this is the mark of calculating names. This clarifies the root. Below, "Furthermore it is said" onward clarifies the branches: "growing through the afflictions of views and craving"—views refers to the five views, and craving refers to the five dull [afflictions].
