問曰：若七識滅者，誰得菩提？誰證涅槃？釋曰：心相雖復滅盡，心性猶在，心性在者即是真識，是故就此說得說證也。
Question: If the seven consciousnesses cease, who attains bodhi? Who realizes nirvāṇa? Explanation: Although the marks of the mind are completely extinguished, the mind-nature remains; that the mind-nature remains is precisely the true consciousness, and therefore it is in reference to this that attainment and realization are spoken of.
