「雖有染心而常恒不反」者，是顯動而常靜，由是義故，唯佛窮了。如十卷經云「以如來藏是清淨相，客塵煩惱垢染不淨。我依此義，為勝鬘夫人及餘菩薩等，說如來藏阿梨耶識共七識生，名轉滅相。大惠！如來藏阿梨耶識境界，我今與汝及諸菩薩甚深智者，能了分別此二種法；諸餘聲聞辟支及外道等執著名字者，不能了知如是二法。」正謂此乎！

'Although there is defiled mind, it is constant and never reverses' reveals that it moves yet is constantly quiescent; for this reason, only a Buddha completely understands it. As the Ten-fascicle Laṅkāvatārasūtra says: 'Because the tathāgatagarbha is a characteristic of purity, adventitious afflictions defile it so that it is impure. Relying on this meaning, I explained to Queen Śrīmālā and other bodhisattvas that the tathāgatagarbha and ālayavijñāna arise together with the seven consciousnesses, which is called the characteristic of evolving and ceasing. Mahāmati, as for the realm of the tathāgatagarbha and ālayavijñāna, I now, together with you and the bodhisattvas of profound wisdom, can understand and discriminate these two kinds of dharmas; all other śrāvakas, pratyekabuddhas, non-Buddhists, and those attached to names cannot understand these two dharmas.' This is precisely what it means!
