初、自力廣聞經得解佛意，不須他論，故云自力。即具文義二持。

First, relying on their own power to hear sūtras broadly and attain understanding of the Buddha's intention, they do not require another's śāstra; hence it says "their own power." This fully possesses the retention of both text and meaning.
