四、計名字相者，依前顛倒所執相上更立名言，是分別故。《楞伽》云「相名常相隨，而生諸妄想。」故云依於妄執等也。上來起惑，自下造業感報。

Fourth, as for "the mark of naming": upon the marks grasped through the preceding inverted [views], it further establishes verbal designations; this is differentiation. The Laṅkāvatārasūtra states: "Marks and names constantly follow each other, and all false conceptualizations are produced." Therefore it says, "based on deluded attachment," and so on. The preceding part dealt with giving rise to afflictions; the following part deals with creating karma and incurring retribution.
