2.55

初中依言說有二義者，顯此二義若離於言即唯一味；今既依言故說有二，不可即隨言執取也，但為生物信解故說此文。故《地論》云「何故不但說無言？示現依言求解故。」

In the first part, having two meanings according to verbal expression shows that if these two meanings are separated from words, they are of only a single flavor; now, because they are spoken of relying on words, they are said to be two, and one must not grasp them merely following the words. This text is taught solely to generate faith and understanding in living beings. Hence the Daśabhūmikaśāstra says: "Why not only teach the wordless? To demonstrate seeking understanding relying on words."
