3.145

前中二：初五句開總成別；後「乃至」下，攝別成總。五句中：一、慈愛以攝生，二、居卑以引物，三、同類以勸發，四、怖之以入道，五、直以四法攝令修益。文可知。

In the former [part] there are two: first, five phrases unpack the general into the specific; later, from 'and so forth' on, gathers the specific into the general. In the five phrases: first, embracing sentient beings with love and affection; second, dwelling in a low position to guide beings; third, being of the same kind to exhort and inspire; fourth, terrifying them to bring them onto the Way; fifth, directly using the four methods of embracing to make them cultivate benefits.
