答曰：譬如大摩尼寶體性明淨，而有鑛穢之垢。若人雖念寶性，不以方便種種磨治，終無得淨。
Answer: It is like a great maṇi jewel whose essential nature is bright and pure, yet has the defilement of mineral impurities. Even if a person contemplates the nature of the jewel, if they do not polish and refine it through various skillful means, it can never become pure.
