忍中二：初、他不饒益忍。二、亦當忍於下，明於違順境喜怒不動其心，安受忍也。利謂財榮潤己；衰謂損耗侵陵；毀謂越過凶毀；譽謂越德而歎；稱謂依實德讚；譏謂依實過論；苦謂逼迫侵形；樂謂心神適悅。

Within patience there are two: first, patience toward others' unbeneficial actions. Second, from 'one should also endure' onward clarifies not having one's mind moved to joy or anger in adverse and favorable situations, which is the patience of accepting [conditions]. 'Gain' means wealth and glory that benefit oneself; 'loss' means reduction and encroachment; 'defamation' means exaggerated, malicious slander; 'honor' means praise exceeding one's virtue; 'praise' means eulogy based on real virtue; 'blame' means criticism based on real faults; 'suffering' means distress oppressing the body; 'pleasure' means comfort and delight of the mind.
