初、止成。二、以心住下，明止力附心猛利得定。三、深伏煩惱下，明伏惑入位，即信滿入住。略辨定益也。上來明能入，下顯不能。

First, the accomplishment of calm. Second, from “because the mind abides” downward, clarifies that the power of calm attached to the mind is sharp and keen, attaining samādhi. Third, from “deeply subduing afflictions” downward, clarifies subduing delusions and entering ranks—that is, the fulfillment of faith and entry into the [first of the ten] abodes. This briefly distinguishes the benefits of samādhi. The above clarified those capable of entering; the following reveals those who cannot.
