3.455

或現天像、菩薩像，亦作如來像，相好具足。或說陀羅尼，若說布施、持戒、忍辱、精進、禪定、智慧，或說平等、空、無相、無願、無怨無親、無因無果、畢竟空寂是真涅槃。或令人知宿命過去之事，亦知未來之事，得他心智辯才無礙，能令眾生貪著世間名利之事。又令使人數瞋數喜，性無常準。或多慈愛多睡多病，其心懈怠。或卒起精進後便休廢，生於不信多疑多慮。或捨本勝行更修雜業。若著世事種種牽纏，亦能使人得諸三昧少分相似，皆是外道所得，非真三昧。或復令人若一日若二日若三日，乃至七日住於定中，得自然香美飲食，身心適悅不飢不渴，使人愛著。或亦令人食無分齊，乍多乍少顏色變異。

[The demon] may manifest the form of a deva or a bodhisattva, or also take the form of a Tathāgata endowed with the major and minor marks. Or it may speak dhāraṇīs, or preach giving, morality, forbearance, diligence, dhyāna, and wisdom; or preach equality, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, freedom from enmity and friendship, freedom from cause and effect, [teaching that] ultimate emptiness and tranquility are true nirvāṇa. Or it may cause a person to know events of past lifetimes and know future events as well, obtaining knowledge of other minds and unhindered eloquence, and can cause sentient beings to greedily cling to worldly fame and profit. It also causes a person to frequently become angry and frequently become joyful, having a temperament without constancy. Or they may have much affection, much sleep, or much illness, with their mind being indolent. Or they may abruptly arouse diligence but later abandon it, giving rise to lack of faith with much doubt and anxiety. Or they may abandon their original superior practice and instead cultivate miscellaneous activities, or cling to worldly affairs with various entanglements. It can also cause a person to attain a slight resemblance to various samādhis, which are all attained by non-Buddhists and are not true samādhi. Or it may cause a person to remain in meditative absorption for one day, two days, three days, or even up to seven days, obtaining naturally fragrant and delicious food and drink so that body and mind are comfortable, free from hunger and thirst, causing the person to become attached. Or it may cause a person to have no measure in eating, eating suddenly much and suddenly little, with changes in facial complexion.
