II. In the second part, explaining innate enlightenment, there are two sections: first, explaining innate enlightenment that accords with defilement; later, from 'the four mirrors' onward, explaining innate enlightenment that is pure by nature. Alternatively, the preceding may generally explain the essence of enlightenment, while this passage distinguishes the marks of enlightenment, and the passage on the four mirrors below explains both essence and marks. In the first section on according with defilement, there are three parts: first, general presentation; second, listing the names; third, distinguishing the marks.
