"Rely on sentient beings of the indeterminate group" answers the first question. Distinguishing the three groups involves many approaches; in this text, it directly clarifies that a bodhisattva from the ten abodes onward is definitively non-retrograde, which is called the group of correct determination. Those who have not yet entered the ten faiths and do not believe in cause and effect are called the group of wrong determination. Between these two are the persons in the rank of the ten faiths, who wish to seek the great fruit but whose minds are not yet resolute, either advancing or retreating; hence the Benye jing says, "Bodhisattvas of the ten faiths are like hairs in the wind, called the indeterminate group." Now, relying on this person, [the text] clarifies their cultivation.
