疏者，疎也，決也。謂疎理法義旨趣，決擇文言章句，令悉通暢也。

'Commentary' (*shu*) means to arrange and to resolve. It means arranging the principles and tenets of the Dharma, and resolving and selecting the phrases and sentences of the text, so that all become clear and unimpeded.
