1.19

言夫者，發語之詞也。如云：夫孝德之本，教之所由生。又云：夫易廣矣！大矣！或句中句下皆語詞也。

The word *fu* is an initial particle. As in saying: 'Now (*fu*), filial piety is the root of virtue, from which teachings arise.' And again: 'Now (*fu*), the *Changes* are vast! They are great!' Or it may serve as an empty particle in the middle or end of a sentence.
