From "Heterodox attachments..." onward explains that both faculties and practice were inferior. Inverted grasping and attachment is called "heterodox attachments." Confusing the correct principle is called "turbulent"; "turbulent" means tangled and disordered in principle. There are three categories of these, which are termed "heterodox" because their attachments and assumptions differ: First, ordinary beings, relying on dull afflictions, cling to the five aggregates of form and mind, reckoning them to be permanent, joyful, self, and pure. Second, non-Buddhists, relying on conceptual differentiation, reckon that there is a self in the five aggregates, either identical to or separate from the aggregates, clinging to annihilation or permanence, and giving rise to the sixty-two views and so forth. Third, the Hīnayāna, though having destroyed self-grasping, give rise to views of dharmas; not knowing the true and permanent, they reckon impermanence and the other four [inversions]. Following their own views, they each establish their own schools, splitting into over twenty sects and criticizing one another. These are all called "heterodox attachments."
