From "Composing extensive..." onward is the third: directly composing the various treatises, in two [parts]: first, the extensive treatises, referring to the *Śarkara-śāstra*, which comments on the medium-length *Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra*; its doctrinal flavor being rich and sweet, this name was established. He also composed over one hundred treatises, such as the *Treatise on the One Mind Pervading All*, the *Treatise on Blending the Conventional to Return to the Real*, and the *Treatise on Tathatā-samādhi*. Because it had only been six hundred years since the Tathāgata's extinction, human faculties were somewhat sharp and able to receive extensive expositions; hence it says "at that time." "Far" means distant. "Flock" means multitudes. "Categories" means classes. That is, it universally encompasses all categories and extends far into the future; all who are suitable recipients obtain this benefit; hence it says "broadly benefiting the multitudes of beings."
