二、喻。論　依方迷者，依東方故迷為西方。若離正東，即無邪西。亦如依水起波，若離於水，則無有波。

Second, the simile. The Treatise: "Confusion reliant on the direction": relying on the eastern direction, one is confused and takes it to be the western direction. If one is apart from true east, there is no erroneous west. It is also like waves arising in reliance on water; if one is apart from water, there are no waves.
