The treatise states: "Not permanent..." onward—fifth, the pairing of inverted versus true. The commentary states: "The four inversions..."—namely, impermanence, suffering, non-self, and impurity. Because the mind moves, it gives rise to contaminated matter and mind; contaminated matter and mind are truly not permanent, etc., but ordinary beings conceptually grasp them as permanent, etc., thus forming the four inversions. "Contrasting with it..." onward—because of being unmoving, matter and mind do not arise. Because they do not arise, there is only the nature of tathatā, permanently abiding, pure, sovereign, and peacefully blissful; thus forming the four virtues.
