18.14

論　如是下，三、合。疏　明無等者，意云：論言垢者，但是障見佛之垢，即是無機。善星下，引例。此人生於佛世，是佛弟子，常見佛身，然有煩惱現行，以起惡故，生墮地獄，如《涅槃》說。

[Treatise:] "In this way..." and below: third, the application of the simile. [Commentary:] "Clarifying that lack [of capacity]..." means: the treatise's word "defilement" refers solely to the defilement that obstructs seeing the Buddha; that is, lacking the receptive capacity. "Sunakṣatra..." and below cites an example. This person was born in the Buddha's era, was a disciple of the Buddha, and constantly saw the Buddha's physical body. Yet, because afflictions were actively manifested and he gave rise to evil, he was reborn falling into hell, as the Nirvāṇa-sūtra explains.
