5.3

疏　初句下，二、釋文，中二：初總釋此偈，三：初釋初句。所為機者，唯眾生二字，餘皆能為，屬菩薩也。眾生通於三聚五性，於中為有兼正，如《懸談》所辨，故云如前。

Commentary: "The first line…" introduces the second part, explaining the text, which has two parts: first, generally explaining this verse, in three parts: first, explaining the first line. Regarding "the faculties that are acted for": only the two characters "sentient beings" [represent them]; the remainder are all that which acts, belonging to the Bodhisattva. "Sentient beings" extends across the three groups and five natures, within which there are secondary and primary distinctions, as analyzed in the General Discussion; hence it says "as before".
