6.7

論　眾生心者，眾生即能依，心即所依，所依之體從能依以彰名，前劣後勝。眾生之心，依士釋也。故下文云：眾生依心意。意識轉故。

Treatise: "The mind of sentient beings": "sentient beings" is that which relies, and "mind" is that which is relied upon; the essence that is relied upon manifests its name from that which relies upon it, the former being inferior and the latter superior. "The mind of sentient beings" is a tatpuruṣa compound. Hence the text below says: "Sentient beings rely on the mind and manas because of the revolving of the manovijñāna."
