8.16

又前下，二、對前重辨。即重對前科，以明非異也。即末之本者，重釋前科也。此則以末收本，無本而非末。如以波攝水，無水而非波，更有何水與波為異？故云非異。後即等者，重辨此科攝末歸本義也。此則以本收末，無末而非本。如以水攝波，無波而非水，更有何波與水為異？前則唯末，後則唯本，既無二相，故云非異。

Under 'further, before', second, re-differentiating against the previous. That is, re-evaluating against the previous section to clarify non-difference. 'The root that is identical with the branches' re-explains the previous section. This then gathers the root by means of the branches; there is no root that is not the branches. Just as subsuming water by means of waves, there is no water that is not waves—what other water could be different from waves? Hence it says 'non-different'. 'Afterwards, identical with' and so forth re-differentiates the meaning of subsuming the branches into the root in this section. This then gathers the branches by means of the root; there are no branches that are not the root. Just as subsuming waves by means of water, there are no waves that are not water—what other waves could be different from water? The former is solely the branches, and the latter is solely the root; since there are no two marks, it says 'non-different'.
