解云下，三、釋上引文意。不在中者，無中可在也，不同二人同在一室中。即如兩木成林，兩木既分，乃得云一木不在林中。

Under 'the explanation says', third, explaining the intended meaning of the cited text above. 'Not within' means there is no 'within' in which it could reside, unlike two persons being together within one room. It is just like two trees making a forest: once the two trees are distinguished, only then can one say that one tree is not within the forest.
