8.28

又若下，二、合釋二義，二：初、遮一異。然則相、無相宗學人有失意者，於此二中各負一過。離此等者，故前云：依如來藏有生滅心。後云：無明滅故，智性不壞。

"Moreover, if...", etc., secondly, combines and explains the two meanings; it has two parts: first, precluding identity and difference. Yet, among students of the characteristics and characteristicless traditions, those who fail to grasp the intent each incur one of the two errors. "Apart from this...", etc.; hence it was stated earlier: "Relying on the tathāgatagarbha, there is the mind of arising and ceasing." Later it says: "Because ignorance ceases, the cognitive nature is not destroyed."
