Commentary: "The former three" refers to cessation, difference, and abiding. To awaken to these three marks and backward is named non-ultimate. The latter one refers to the mark of arising; because this single mark is exhausted, it is named ultimate. This is spoken with regard to going against the stream, and therefore the mark of arising is placed at the end; if spoken with regard to following the stream, then the mark of cessation would be at the end.
