Regarding the treatise's "Because in accordance with reality..." below: second is practice on the stages. Regarding the commentary's "path of seeing and so forth": that is the stage of thorough penetration; detaching from continuous associated defilement and realizing one portion of tathatā is called the stage of the pure mind. If conforming to what is explained in various places, one practices the dāna-pāramitā, severs the obstacle of ordinary-nature and two kinds of ignorance—namely, ignorance of grasping self and dharmas, and ignorance of defilement of bad destinies—realizes omnipresent tathatā, and abides in the Joyous Stage (pramuditā-bhūmi). The path of cultivation is from the second stage to virtual enlightenment; because in these stages, one sequentially practices the pāramitā practices such as morality (śīla), and as for the rest, it is not that one does not cultivate them, but merely according to one's power and portion, hence called myriad practices, extensively as explained in the Avataṃsaka-sūtra. Because this cultivation counters obstacles and defilements, conforming with the fundamental nature and causing the essence to become manifest, it is called manifesting the real.
