Treatise: "Bodhisattvas from the ten faiths onward understand consciousness-only": The commentary has two parts: first, the correct explanation. "The measure of consciousness," etc.: all objective realms are manifestations of consciousness-only, and the manifested objective realms are each just like consciousness; therefore, if consciousness is defiled, the objective realm is defiled, and if consciousness is pure, the objective realm is pure, and so forth. Having understood that they are manifestations of consciousness-only, they ultimately do not definitely grasp them as real dharmas or falsely adhere to them; hence it says "abandoning those," and so forth. "Understanding mind-only": possessing wisdom, they can understand that dharmas lack self-nature, that mental characteristics are also empty, that there is only the one tathatā, and they do not generate false grasping; thought after thought accords with the principle, and thus they can quickly proceed toward nirvāṇa.
