Treatise: "With a sincere mind": because when all obstacles arise the mind is fierce and unwholesome, eliminating them now must reside in reverent sincerity. Thus the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* says: "Bodily vigor is small; mental vigor is great. External vigor is small; internal vigor is great." Just as a blazing sun can melt solid ice, and a fierce wind can fell a giant tree, if there is utmost sincerity, it will surely move heaven and earth and affect ghosts and spirits, causing matters not to counter one's vow. "Repent and reform": confessing past transgressions and reforming the past to cultivate the future. Commentary: "Eliminating unwholesome karma": the three obstacles and four obstacles, because one obtains the completeness of primary and secondary [retribution]. Treatise: "Entreat": within this there are the distinctions of requesting the turning of the wheel of Dharma and requesting the Buddha to remain in the world; here speaking comprehensively, it merely says "entreat." Commentary: "Eliminating the obstacle of slandering the Dharma": one obtains much learning and wisdom. Treatise: "Rejoice": one complies with and rejoices in whatever shred of goodness belongs to the three vehicles and four types of beings. Commentary: "Eliminating the obstacle of jealousy": one obtains a vast retinue. Treatise: "Direct toward bodhi": it should also include dedicating toward the limit of reality and toward sentient beings; the intention encompasses both. Commentary: "Eliminating the obstacle of delighting in the three realms of existence": it accomplishes vast goodness.
