Regarding afflictions and karma, the treatise's "Profound": That is, the wondrous wisdom of prajñā deeply reaches the true mark; now having entered this profound concentration, one does not slander it. "Grave sins diminish": One has already understood that the nature of sin and the nature of merit are neither internal, external, nor in between; one's mind is naturally empty, and sin and merit have no master. As samādhi gradually deepens, one's sins gradually decrease, hence it says "diminish." "Doubt" means hesitating regarding principle; "investigation and examination" means the preparation for speech. Now understanding that all phenomena are mind-only, with no external objects, internally free from gross and subtle thought, and decisive regarding principle, what could one doubt? Therefore all of them are eliminated.
