初者，有二、有三。三藏者：一、素怛攬藏，此云契經；二、毘奈耶藏，此云調伏；三、阿毘達摩藏，此云對法。此經律論三以為能詮，彼定戒慧三以為所詮，如次配之。二藏者：一、聲聞藏，二、菩薩藏。十二部者：契經、應頌、記別、諷誦、自說、緣起、譬喻、本事、本生、方廣、希法、論義。今此論是二藏之中菩薩藏攝；三藏之中對法藏攝；十二部中論議經攝也。

Regarding the first: there are two [piṭakas] and there are three [piṭakas]. The three piṭakas are: first, the sūtrapiṭaka, translated here as契經 ('matching scriptures'); second, the vinayapiṭaka, translated here as調伏 ('disciplining and subduing'); third, the abhidharmapiṭaka, translated here as對法 ('facing the dharma'). These three—sūtra, vinaya, and śāstra—are taken as the expounding [media], while the three—samādhi, śīla, and prajñā—are taken as that which is expounded, matched in order. The two piṭakas are: first, the śrāvakapiṭaka; second, the bodhisattvapiṭaka. The twelve limbs are: sūtra, geya, vyākaraṇa, gāthā, udāna, nidāna, avadāna, itivṛttaka, jātaka, vaipulya, adbhutadharma, and upadeśa. Now, this treatise is subsumed under the bodhisattvapiṭaka among the two piṭakas, under the abhidharmapiṭaka among the three piṭakas, and under the upadeśa scriptures among the twelve limbs.
