"The Bodhisattva knew of himself that he had already abandoned the roots of evil, was free of lust, anger, and delusion, that birth and death were already eliminated, and their seeds and roots already severed, leaving no residual sprouts or shoots; what was to be done had already been accomplished, and wisdom was already completely perfected. When the morning star appeared, he was vastly and completely enlightened, attained anuttara-samyak-saṃbodhi, and became a samyak-saṃbuddha. He attained the eighteen attributes of a Buddha, possessed the ten spiritual powers and the four grounds of self-confidence. The eighteen attributes of a Buddha are those held from attaining Buddhahood until Nirvāṇa: first, no falling away from the Path; second, no empty words; third, no loss of mindfulness; fourth, no mind that is not tranquil; fifth, no diverse perceptions; sixth, no lack of discernment; seventh, no diminution of aspiration; eighth, no diminution of vigor; ninth, no diminution of meditative absorption; tenth, no diminution of wisdom; eleventh, no diminution of liberation; twelfth, no diminution of the knowledge and vision of liberation; thirteenth, complete knowledge and vision of the affairs of past worlds; fourteenth, complete knowledge and vision of the affairs of future worlds; fifteenth, complete knowledge and vision of the affairs of the present world; sixteenth, observing the bodily actions of all beings and transforming them with primordial knowledge; seventeenth, observing the verbal actions of all beings and transforming them with primordial knowledge; eighteenth, observing the mental actions of all beings and transforming them with primordial knowledge. These are the eighteen unshared attributes of a Buddha.
