1.17

於一心真如生滅實理事中猶豫不了，名之為疑。於無我如來之藏妄計人我法我，名為邪執。疑除執去，則正信自起。起大乘信，則決定成佛。自度度他，燈燈無盡，故為紹佛種也。初偈頌竟。

Being hesitant and unclear regarding the actual principles and phenomena of the tathatā and the arising and ceasing of the one mind is named "doubt." Falsely imputing a self of persons and a self of dharmas onto the selfless tathāgatagarbha is named "erroneous grasping." When doubt is removed and grasping cast off, correct faith naturally arises. Arousing Mahāyāna faith, one is certain to become a Buddha. Saving oneself and saving others, like lamp lighting lamp inexhaustibly, is therefore "continuing the Buddha-seed." The initial verses are concluded.
