問：賴耶體即真如，賴耶能攝一切法者，真如舉體成賴耶，真如亦應生一切法。答：其理實然，但約不變隨緣，名如來藏，亦名賴耶，故可云生一切法。若約隨緣不變，乃名真如，但可云攝一切法，皆不生滅，不可云生一切法也。

Question: The essence of the ālaya is tathatā, and the ālaya can subsume all dharmas; since tathatā in its entire essence becomes the ālaya, tathatā should also produce all dharmas. Answer: The principle is indeed so. However, when viewed in terms of being immutable yet according with conditions, it is called tathāgatagarbha and is also called ālaya; therefore it may be said to produce all dharmas. If viewed in terms of according with conditions yet immutable, it is called tathatā; it can only be said to subsume all dharmas, all being non-arising and non-ceasing, and cannot be said to produce all dharmas.
