此義云何？以依阿賴耶識有無明不覺，起能見、能現、能取境界，分別相續，說名為意。

[Text of the treatise:] What does this mean? Because based on the ālayavijñāna there is ignorance and non-enlightenment, which give rise to the ability to see, the ability to manifest, and the ability to grasp sense-objects, discriminating continuously—this is named 'thought'.
