3.94

心分別，謂前七心王之體。染淨分別，謂相應心所之體。心王、心所皆以虛妄分別為自性故。言各異者，各起現行，各有自體也。知相同者，能緣之見分和合似一也。緣相同者，所緣之相分質影相似也。

"The mind's discrimination" refers to the substance of the primary minds of the first seven consciousnesses. "The discrimination of defilement and purity" refers to the substance of the associated mental factors. This is because both the primary minds and mental factors take false discrimination as their intrinsic nature. "Differentiated" means that each arises in actual activity and each has its own substance. "The mark of knowing is identical" means that the seeing divisions, as that which cognizes, blend together in resemblance of oneness. "The mark of the objective referent is identical" means that the substantial basis and the reflected image of the objective division, as that which is cognized, are mutually similar.
