問：但離心垢便見法身，何須念佛、觀佛、稱名、禮拜等？答：佛是先證我心性者，念之、觀之、稱之、禮之，皆是除心垢之妙方便也。三解釋分竟。

Question: If merely departing from mental defilement allows one to see the dharmakāya, why is there any need for mindfulness of the Buddha, contemplation of the Buddha, recitation of the name, prostration, and the like? Answer: The Buddha is one who has already realized our mind-nature; being mindful of him, contemplating him, reciting his name, and prostrating to him are all wonderful expedients for eliminating mental defilements.
