"The meaning of enlightenment is: the supreme nature of the mind is free from all marks of deluded thought. Because it is free from all marks of deluded thought, it equals the realm of empty space, pervading everywhere; the single mark of the dharmadhātu is the equal dharmakāya of all Tathāgatas. In reliance upon this dharmakāya, it is said that all Tathāgatas are original enlightenment. In relation to initial enlightenment, it is established as original enlightenment. Yet at the time of initial enlightenment, it is original enlightenment itself; no other enlightenment arises. In establishing initial enlightenment: in reliance upon original enlightenment there is non-enlightenment, and in reliance upon non-enlightenment it is said that there is initial enlightenment."
