[Text of the treatise:] Therefore all things in the three realms have the mind (of the eight consciousnesses) as their intrinsic nature; apart from the mind (of the eight consciousnesses) there are no sense-objects of the six dusts. Why is this? All dharmas have the (eighth) mind as primary and arise from (the seventh's) false thought. Whatever is discriminated (by the eight consciousnesses) is only the discrimination of the (eight consciousnesses') own mind (the perceived parts transformed by them); the mind does not see the mind, and no mark can be apprehended. Therefore, one should know that all marks of worldly sense-objects are established based on the ignorance and false thoughts of sentient beings. Like an image in a mirror, they have no apprehensible essence, but only operate from the falsely discriminating mind: when the mind arises, various dharmas arise; when the mind ceases, various dharmas cease.
