"How is the perfuming of pure phenomena uninterrupted? It means that by means of tathatā perfuming ignorance, through the power of this cause and condition of perfuming, the mind of false thoughts is made to loathe the suffering of birth and death and seek the bliss of nirvāṇa. Because this false mind perfumes tathatā in turn through the conditions of loathing and seeking, through such perfuming it comes to have faith that one's own body possesses the dharma of tathatā, which is fundamentally pure in nature; and it knows that all cognitive objects are merely the false movements of the mind and are utterly non-existent. Because it is able to know truly in this way, it cultivates the practices of detachment and generates various kinds of conforming practices. Having no discrimination and grasping at nothing, passing through immeasurable asaṃkhyeya kalpas, through the power of habitual cultivation, ignorance is extinguished. Because ignorance is extinguished, the marks of the mind do not arise. Because the mind does not arise, the marks of cognitive objects are extinguished. In this way, all defiled causes and defiled conditions, as well as the marks of the mind that are defiled effects, are completely extinguished; this is called attaining nirvāṇa and accomplishing various kinds of sovereign karmic functions."
