Question: If the dharmakāya of the Buddha has no manifold differentiated forms of physical mark, how can it manifest manifold diverse physical forms? Answer: Because the dharmakāya is the true essence of physical form, it can manifest manifold physical forms. This is because, from the very beginning, physical form and mind have been non-dual. Since the intrinsic nature of physical form is the very self-nature of mind, it is spoken of as the wisdom-body; since the intrinsic nature of mind is the very self-nature of physical form, it is spoken of as the dharmakāya. Relying on the dharmakāya, the physical bodies manifested by all Tathāgatas pervade everywhere without interruption. Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, according to their capacity and according to their wishes and inclinations, perceive immeasurable enjoyment bodies and immeasurable adorned lands, each distinct, not obstructing one another, and without cessation. These manifested physical bodies cannot be conceived by the mind, intellect, or consciousness of any sentient being, because this is the profound, sovereign function of tathatā.
