所言用者，依前五陰假名集用，便有人天男女等別。此之假用有而非患，是故聖人常隨世俗，說有我人眾生壽命。上來四門辨其生空。

As for what is called 'function': based on the conventional confluence and function of the aforementioned five aggregates, there are distinctions of gods, humans, male, female, and so on. This conventional function exists and is not an affliction; therefore the sages constantly conform to worldly conventions, speaking of the existence of a self, a person, a sentient being, and a life-span. The above four gates distinguish the emptiness of sentient beings.
