問曰：若使十二部中修多羅部亦總亦別，三藏之中修多羅藏得如是不？釋言：亦得。一切聖教統攝皆是一修多羅，就中開出十二部經。修多羅部亦總亦別，還即就此總修多羅分為三藏，是故得說修多羅藏亦總亦別，餘二唯別。十二部經，辨之麁爾。

Question: If the sūtra genre among the twelve genres is both comprehensive and distinct, can the sūtra piṭaka among the three piṭakas be like this as well? Explanation: It can. All sacred teachings completely gathered are a single sūtra, within which the twelve genres of scripture are unfolded. The sūtra genre is both comprehensive and distinct; precisely based on this comprehensive sūtra the three piṭakas are divided, and therefore one can say that the sūtra piṭaka is both comprehensive and distinct, while the remaining two are strictly distinct. The twelve genres of scripture are roughly distinguished in this manner.
